Connecting People to Nature
Castaway with Katie Tunn

Wild places are one of our greatest assets on which we depend, providing clean air, water and soil. Katie is well known for her ocean-inspired ‘Blue Planets’ paintings.
On this trip, Katie invited 11 women to join her on one of her favourite uninhabited places, The Shiant Isles, for an all women’s immersive, wild island retreat.
Disconnecting from the pressures of the technological world the group focused on female empowerment and friendship, creativity and low-impact living alongside nature. Activities included foraging, whisky tasting and wild swimming.
The islands are one of the most important breeding colonies for seabirds in Europe – around 10 per cent of UK puffins and 7 per cent of UK razorbills breed here every year. The islands recently completed the Seabird Recovery Project from 2014-2018 that now offer a great prospect for seabirds to set up new colonies such as Manx shearwaters and storm petrels.
Over the next few years the abundance and diversity of the land bird populations will be investigated to see how they respond to the change. Monitoring the flora and invertebrate communities will also take place to see how these communities adapt.
Nicaragua Surf Retreat – Hosted by Nique Miller

We teamed up on this adventure with one of the best surf & yoga retreats in Nicaragua, to have an unforgettable experience along with Nique Miller, exploring the beautiful waves of this hidden gem in northern Nicaragua.
Rise Up is an all-inclusive surf and yoga experience for those looking for connection, authenticity, and adventure off the beaten path.
They are much more than a surf and yoga retreat! “When you join us, you are welcomed like family. All of your needs are taken care of from the second you arrive: accommodation, healthy meals—prepared fresh by an in-house chef, unique adventures in the native local communities, photos and videos of your surf, and staff so welcoming you’ll feel like you’ve known them forever.”
They care deeply about the environment & education, health and wellness, and community and proud to give back through their NGO Rise Up Kids and invite their guests to be part of this great mission.
Today, with the help from generous donors, they implement projects that improve the lives and education of local children and young women in the communities around Rise Up, in Nicaragua.

Ocean Conservation
Basking Sharks Expedition – Hosted by Charlie Young

Scotland is home to the largest aggregation of basking sharks in the world. Nowhere else on the planet can you get so up close and personal with these gentle giants.
Teaming up with Basking Shark Scotland, Charlie along with a small and intimate group headed out on a specialist trip to the remote Isle of Coll to go in search of these majestic creatures. Drawn to Scotland’s waters because of its rich plankton blooms, the sharks spend the summer feasting at the sun baked surface making the most of the all you can eat buffet.
As the summer progresses, more and more sharks arrive, with the end of July being one of the peak times to see them. Guests visiting at this time are also in with a chance of seeing not only an abundance of sharks but mating behaviour, breaching and chains of multiple sharks trailing one another at the surface as they feed.
Wildlife Conservation

The Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) in South Africa has a purpose to boldly prevent carnivore extinction in southern Africa.
Carnivores are one of the most charismatic yet threatened orders and require innovative strategies to ensure their survival. They boldly implement large-scale, collaborative, field-based projects to increase the range, numbers and status of Africa’s threatened carnivores.
Achieved by re-establishing, maintaining and expanding safe space for carnivores, actively reducing threats to carnivore survival and persistence, ensuring positive changes in human-based values to carnivores, and supporting legislation to protect carnivores.
We should, we can, we do save carnivores.
We are proud to be partnering with EWT on a number of expeditions in South Africa, where they will hosts photographers, conservationists and extraordinary people on behind the scenes expedition. Their highly skilled field staff will host our groups who’s trip will directly help to safeguard the future of our most endangered carnivores; Lions, Cheetah and Wild Dogs.

Catherine Edsell, a fellow at the Royal Geographical Society came to us wanting to run 3 trips for her network of mothers and daughters.
- Desert Elephant Trekking in Namibia
- Whale Shark Conservation in Tanzania
- Conservation work in Madagascar
Inspired Ventures brought the trip together with Catherine with our combined network of guides, fixers and NGO’s on the ground. We did full risk assessments and health and safety, insured and bonded the trip and set up the reservation systems to handle bookings. Each year Catherine generates around £14k of income from the 3 trips, which will further the goals of the NGO’s with the funds raised from the trip.
Inspired Challenges

Impact Marathon Series
IMS came to Inspired Ventures with a vision; “to harness the power of running, and link it with sustainably building communities and bringing people together, leaving a lasting impact on the world”. With our tools and experience this vision has since become a reality and the idea has grown into a social business which is using the power of running to make the world a better place.
