A best of Bolivia photography workshop
With Ricardo Braz
Bolivia is a South American country with incredibly varied terrain spanning across the Andes Mountain Range, the Atacama Desert and the Amazon Rainforest.
The culture is bright, colourful and festive; it is also home to the highest percentage of indigenous people, therefore community-based tourism is popular and offers the best experiences with rich traditions.
La Paz is Bolivia’s capital and located at a whopping 3500 meters above sea level, making it the highest capital city in the world. Highlights and favourites of Bolivia are the Uyuni salt flats, the small town of Copacabana and the Islands of the Sun and Moon, with ancient history dating back to the Inca time period. Other top destinations are Lake Titicaca, the town of Potosi in the southern highlands, and Santa Cruz to the south. Wildlife in Bolivia is so biodiverse, species are still being discovered to this day. Thanks to the lush Amazon and mix of rugged terrains, the wildlife is rare and exotic.

Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Bolivia
Hello & Welcome
Meet Ricardo and the Inspired Team at El Alto International Airport, in La Paz. We aim to depart at 11 am, so if you are unable to arrive before this time, we recommend you fly in a day earlier and overnight at an airport hotel which we can gladly arrange for you.
We will load up and travel as a group to our hotel which will be our base for the next 3 days.
The afternoon will be spent exploring the highest city in the world’s architecture, diverse people, food, and even a witches’ market! Colour and flavour are the order of the day, with something to excite our senses around every unearthed corner. We will explore the city on foot and from the skies, by cable car to get a bird’s eye view, while soaking up the magical Kili Kili sunset.

Day 2: Moon Valley & Valle De Las Animas
At first glance, you’d be forgiven if you thought the Moon Valley is a fantasy realm out of this world. Named for its bizarre, lunar-like landscapes and strange geological formations, the Moon Valley is a veritable maze of canyons and giant spires.
The southernmost reaches of La Paz then beckon, bringing us to the small lagoon of Uni, where we will descend into the mythical Valle de las Ánimas – another location that will have you in awe of Mother Nature’s raw power.
We will then return to La Paz.

Day 3: Biking North Yungas Road
Riding a bike certainly gives one a wonderful sense of freedom, and although the route we’ll take has an ominous-sounding name, the Biking Death Route promises you the ride of your life! Our bus will bring us to our starting point – La Cumbre (4,760 m) – where we will be outfitted with bikes and relevant gear.
After 22 km of asphalt and unimaginable views, we arrive at a Police Checkpoint, after which we get going again on the awe-inspiring dirt and gravel road with its magnificent drops and sharp corners. We finish at La Senda Verde, an animal refuge and eco-lodge, where a cold beer awaits, as well as a very tasty lunch. Freshen up in the showers before we head back to our hotel in La Paz.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included
Day 4: Uyuni Salt Flats
Today a domestic flight will whisk us away to spectacular Uyuni where we’ll check in*.
Today we have our first glimpse of the remarkable Uyuni salt flats, and we’ll make a stop at the fascinating Train Cemetery which will offer us the most amazing photo opportunities. We’ll then drop in on the community of Colchani and their artisanal salt factory, after which, we will enter the majestic salt flats. See how salt is collected and immerse yourself in your perspective or optical illusion photo session.
Little tops rounding off your adventures by admiring the spectacular sunset in the salt flats, toasting its splendor with a toast of Andean liqueurs.
The clear Uyuni sky makes it perfect for stargazing. Our night-time tour on the salt flats will enchant us beneath a glittering starscape. Thanks to the pristine environment and high altitude, the stars and Milky Way appear brighter than anywhere else. The Salar becomes a constellation of its own after dark, as the salt crystals glint with myriad sparkles just like above. Learning about the constellations in the southern hemisphere has never been more exciting.
This excursion is subject to change depending on weather conditions.

Wonderful vistas promise to take your breath away! We will ascend the Tunupa volcano, which has a height of 5,432 m above sea level. This allows us a spectacular view of the Salar before we descend from one of the viewpoints. A visit to the indigenous community of Ayque, gives us the chance to explore its enigmatic ruins and “chullpares” – funeral towers of a pre-Columbian town. Venture to Incahuasi Island to marvel at the incredible giant cacti that grow there.
We finish our day with a two-hour stargazing tour.
